Sunwalter loves LEXX

Olga Sol contacted me on Lexxperience on facebook today to let me know that Sunwalter incorporates Lexx into its scifi metal, very cool. (Think Metallica meets Nightwish.)

Blogger is not allowing me to share this video in iframe format since it's housed in VK outside the U.S., but Facebook (sister to VK) is allowing the share, which I put here (public group) and here (page). I can also share it to twitter, which is here.

Some of you might be able to open the video with this direct link, and from there you can check out more of Sunwalter's music videos.

You can find out more about Sunwalter on their official site (if you use Chrome it will offer to translate for you), this English interview, sub to them on youtube and instagram, and like their Facebook page. I also found this page about their Katy Perry cover.

I got a snip from the video. At the very beginning is a piece of the Brunnen-G fight song that sounds lifted from the original track, and then they launch. You can also find a title list of more scifi oriented songs on their website, which I think is really cool and it's about time someone was doing that.

Lexxperience the fandom history through forums

Originally posted in the Lexxperience group on facebook and copied from tumblr

It’s nearly renewal time for LittleLexx.net, the “billbored” for Lexxians after the original Lexx.com forum, earliest date I can see on it is 6-10-04. I know there are other forums with loads of fandom history, but this bored is its own unique thing and I intend to financially support it as long as possible.
There was a mishap over the winter, the bored went on lockdown, and I have tried about 10 different ways to get a message through to admin, including email listed on the domain registration. This evening I used the ‘contact us’ form as a last resort.
I’m sharing this because, in the event that the domain owner info has changed, I may not be able to renew this next month, in which case domain will pass into expiry and might be removed from public access. The fees are due in a handful of very short weeks, so I wanted to let you guys know, just in case, that this might be your last chance to go visit what’s still left in salvage from the old archives. The mishap possibly wiped the newer stuff (or it might still be there, I’ve got a code tech guy on standby if I can ever get a message through), but there is still lots of fandom history there from 2004 to 2010.
Other older fan forums include-
Lexxverse at Lexxverse.com
LexxZone at Lexxzone.com
And of course Brian’s board at http://briandowney.proboards.com/
Thanx to a post made by scifisuzi in 2004, the history of the LittleLexx.net 'billbored’ is partially historically archived at http://littlelexx.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=237
LittleLexx.net was originally www.lexxfans.com after it was rescued from lexx.com.The forum kept being rescued BY FANS. All these years, fans have paid to keep this fandom history archived so it won’t disappear. Well, it’s been 12 years since the first rescue, from what I can see, and I really hope LittleLexx isn’t the last.
2016 is Lexx’s 20th #Lexxversary, and if you’re feeling at all nostalgic, there you go, loads of fandom history that still hasn’t disappeared yet. And there’s more! I’ve only listed the main forums that I was the most active in or read the most, I know there are more, and I would be delighted for fans to link them in comments.

Ellen Dubin update for fans

This is pasted over from my Lexxperience group and page on facebook for fans who don't have facebook.

Hi guys
Ellen Dubin got hold of me a few minutes ago about Lexx being noted at 39th place out of 50 for all-time best scifi shows EVER (previous link https://www.facebook.com/groups/Lexxperience/permalink/1185540114840810/, awesomely cool), and here are a few things of note.

Check out the cool refurbish at Ellen's dotcom http://ellendubin.com/ She's very busy and doing all the things, and everything you need to see what she's up to is right there.

If either of us had the money we'd have The Time is Right funded already and Lexx rebooted. Check out The Time is Right on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TTIRsoon and follow them on twitter https://twitter.com/TTIRofficial and youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxWJ0sY9aB-goqikyViAE4A because 1- Ellen is part of it and 2- I heard Jeff (790) is on the writing team. If you have money burning holes and wanna be awesome, get with Garner Haines about getting Ellen's role going.

We are both sad that the new #Lexxversary page at https://www.facebook.com/LexxTwentiethAnniversary/ stopped, but we understand people have lives and lots of stuff happen, and we hope everyone is doing ok. We talked about a LOT of the older Lexx history and fandom history being collected at Lexxverse.com, Sadgeezer http://sadgeezer.com/LEXX-Main-Menu.htm, Frey http://www.thefrey.com/Lexxzone.comLittleLexx.net, and more. We also think it's awesome that a new gen of Lexx fans are sprouting because 1- their parents love the show and/or 2- they saw Lexx as kids and are now rewatching.

I teased Ellen about the irony of Giggerota being the one who is surviving and 'owning' the show now, since she's been so cool to promo Lexx so much and she said "BUT I NEVER FORGET THE SHOW THAT REALLY STARTED MY SCI FI CAREER -ever-! Now let's get me on Game of Thrones or the Walking dead, need a good role on a new sci fi show!"
Ellen is active on both twitter https://twitter.com/EllenDubinActor and facebook https://www.facebook.com/EllenDubinActor and has instagram https://www.instagram.com/ellendubinactor/ Keep your eye on her, she's moving pretty fast.

flux capacitor... ~fluxing~ (still Lexxing)

I honestly can't tell if I've lost my revolver map on just my own laptop or if it's a problem for everyone. I'm on Windows 10 now, and the only way I can even tell it's still there is to use Edge browser, and it won't display but it will give a link to 'Live Stats'. Chrome acts like it's not there, even when I hover over where it should be, there is no link to click.

If you can still see the globe in the upper right column, I'd love to know this in comments. If you can't, the code is actually still seeing YOU.

-This- is what it should look like. When you click that you go to the 3D globe. You can click around in there and see the stats and maybe even you, lol.

This is the latest 2D map I got today. This is all you guys who have ever looked at Lexxperience.com. You can click on this map to go there, and then click on locations to see all the countries listed. I don't think the total view count is accurate, since blogger insists I've had over 28,000 legit visits here now, and those of you who follow Pinky blog know I'm really rigorous about rooting out bot and spam hits.

I'd like to apologize for not updating in a very long time. My Facebook group and fan page are still active, and I'm on twitter every day (hashtag feed #Lexxperience), but again, if you follow Pinky blog, you know why I haven't gotten much done lately. I do have drafts in queue here, plus other code fix and link items on a list to take care of, so I haven't abandoned this project by a long shot.

Anyway, blogger converted to https this spring, but even though Revolver Maps has https support, I'm not seeing that support in my browsers. I can only guess it's my laptop... I probably need to adjust my java settings or something.

:edit: I guess the globe still shows up on mobile just fine, yay!

the year that Lexx ranked into the top 40 TV shows of all time

I just posted this to the Lexxperience page on FB.

Do you guys remember the Vote for Lexx thread from the old Lexx 'bored'?
http://littlelexx.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2608

Lexx came in 20th place out of 40 with a total of over 10 million votes in the big Rich LaBonte TV vote, thanks to the vigilance of Lexx fan n5-kopele from Bulgaria, who also admin'd on the Sci-fi_aholics forum at http://cluster424.proboards.com/user/4 and owned the Bulgarian Lexx site at http://lexx-bulgaria.hit.bg/ (no longer viewable, sorry).

I was able to grab one of the Lexx vote promos years ago and upload it to photobucket, but I'm no longer able to see it, at least on this tech. Photobucket has made a lot of changes. You can try it, but I'm not sure it'll work.
http://img.photobucket.com/…/JanikaBanks/tv_vote_Lexx30K.swf

The Rich LaBonte vote page is still there, even though the voting has been closed for a long time. You can still see Lexx ranked in 20th place.

Lexx re-release for the 20th Lexxversary

Echo Bridge Entertainment will re-release the entire Lexx series in a single box for only $29.99 on May 3rd, available for pre-order from Amazon.

pic clicks to official re-release announcement

A brand new Australia version complete set released in 2011 can cost up to $122.99 on Amazon.

A brand new region 2 complete set released in 2002 starts at $81.43 and goes up to $146.81 on Amazon.

A brand new region 1 (U.S. and Canada) complete set released in 2013 starts at $46.72 on Amazon.

And of course, you can still order all 4 Lexx seasons through retail stores online for about $12 per season, making the entire series around $48.
  Walmart
  Target

Yeah, the cover art is messed up- Kai never held a sword (Excalibur???) and Mantrid and/or Prince would have been a great antagonist to have on the cover, but yay it's a re-release and the price has dropped again. Now all you Lexx fans on twitter fussing about never seeing it come through Netflix or Hulu can plunk down your spending money for one little bitty weekend and just own it, amIright?

get sexxy

Way back in 2012, I hinted in a post called Lexx and psychological health, perhaps that I would be going into more detail. I've also talked about how I feel about the Zev/Xev character in Why Lexx Is Personal.

Guys, my psychologist waited 8 years for me to break open on this. He cannot see how in the world Lexx, a very suggestive show, doesn't affect me sexually. Let's reword that. Doesn't turn me on. I've tried to explain in other places how it all works for me, because I'm a weirdo, but it's taken years for me to find the words that can communicate what's really going on with me, because Lexx obviously hits every button I've got, right? I'm just not in love with the characters or actors or following the show or anyone in it out of infatuation. If anything, it's like I'm brain locked onto the absurdity and sadness behind it all, which I think most of us feel and probably identify with.

Sex is something different to everyone. I vehemently rejected being identified as girly growing up, and I wouldn't be caught dead in anything pink or frilly. (Yes, that's funny now, says Pinky...) I felt all the usual stuff, but I knew by 11 that I didn't feel female, but neither did I necessarily fight to be male. I opted to identify as neither, and developed an androgynous identity without even thinking about it. By high school I was clearly asexual, never went out, never made out, and never cared. I've never felt rejected or unloved, because I never craved that kind of attention. Oh, I had hormones coming out my ears, they just didn't connect in my brain to a behavior, so I never developed objects of interest or significant others (at least in high school). I figured out very quickly that crushes were temporary chemical compulsions, and that they meant nothing to me in the scheme of things. My self identity never relied on my emotions about them, because I didn't have emotions about them. I know that's hard to believe.

Ultimately, when I look around, sex is a tool, a weapon, an illusion of power or helplessness. This is aptly demonstrated by Xev showing Prince she could give him the key and withholding it from him. Relationships are games, and games have objectives. These objectives bring up opportunities to lie and bedazzle and cruelly torment, all in the name of love. We see this aptly demonstrated through May enticing Stanley after years of his own self torment over losing Lyekka, which was likely his fault. Sex also boils down to programming, which we see aptly demonstrated in 790. We also see a sexless character in the form of His Divine Shadow, and an asexual character in the form of Gigerotta (pretty sure I make that case in It's Good to be Queen- Giggerota, Part Three), along with a variety of orientations throughout the series. On top of all these characters, the one who truly stands out is Kai, because he is a sexual conundrum to everyone around him, including himself.

I could go into a long-winded boring thing about love and sex aren't the same thing, nature vs nurture (anyone on twitter sees all kinds of interspecies animal sex, so that argument is clearly invalid), and conscious decisions to commit to love in a sexual relationship, or I could skip all that and get right to the weird stuff. Frogs. I cannot stop laughing when I think about frog sex. Also, human trafficking. I've known real people caught up in that world, and it's very depressing to think about. Sexuality is its own thing, using or belittling other people's sexuality is another. Lexx has gobs of both from every angle, and coolest thing about it is they go there without blinking. They don't sit around explaining their feels to the viewers or psychologically assessing their situations. They are absolutely stuck with who they are from a terrible regime of slavery, and we get to watch them figure out for themselves the rights and wrongs of love and sex.

One of my favorites is Bunny. She's the queen on Prince's chess board, the most sexual person in the entire series, but deeply committed to the one man she loves in a wonderfully psychotic way. The funnest part is how easily everyone lets Bunny off the hook. She's so innocent, right? I just laugh at everyone who sticks up for that. She was going to kill her own friends and mother for sex. Think about it.

There are so many antithetical characters- Xev and Bunny, Prince and Kai, His Divine Shadow and Gigerotta, Stanley Tweedle and 790, Mantrid and Brizon, and sexuality is a huge part of who these people are. Xev was created by society, Bunny was not. Prince uses people, Kai is used. His Shadow is trying to salvage an extinct species, Gigerotta wants everything dead. Stanley wants love, 790 owns love. Mantrid is sexually stripped, Brizon is sexually parasitical. Everything we see in Lexx is about defining sex as either love (addiction included) or power.

My aspie childhood in a rigid belief system on a farm meant the only sex I ever knew happened was out in the field by animals. We just never talked about it. After high school, my sex life is a mess because I tried to be normal like everyone else and copy what they were doing, and it all started with everyone gets married. I was a virgin when I married a pedophile (let's just call rape for what it is, shall we?), was raped twice by people I trusted after the divorce (thank you, alcohol), was escorted to an abortion clinic by a nice man from a churchy family where I was tied down and had a baby ripped out despite protest (very confused about love by then), and gave up even trying to understand after that (and those are the nice stories). Thank goodness Scott happened and we've been married 23 years now. My two fondest sex memories are the cupcake story (my most viewed aspie post ever) and the time I laughed so hard about frogs that I ruined everything.

I was raised in a box by people who couldn't think outside the box. I'm neurologically atypical, and I don't fit into typical expectations. One thing I heard a lot was "You're too smart for any man to want to marry." That lends to loads of questions why. I grew up in a gender based power structure without identifying as a gender, and because of that, I was able to step outside the box and ask the questions. Because I lacked the criteria necessary for me to feel compelled by peer pressure (I'm a little narcisssistic), I've been able to look around and see how unaware that people around me are about being squished into societal norms. I was naturally inspired into a sociology degree, heavily laced with psychology, political science, world religious history, and ethics, and I gravitate to philosophies of all kinds. (Imagine how thrilled I was to find out my first internet nickname was more than a funny guy on a commercial, it's also a very famous paradox.)

Everything is sex to me. Freud pretty much started the whole thing, and you can take it as far as you want- everything we do in life is a sexual experience because we are born sexual beings. You can't separate sex from enjoying an ice cream cone any more than you can separate light from from getting a tan. Our nervous systems and the chemicals sloshing all over them are continually monitoring and sending signals, whether we are conscious of it or not, and while I wonder why everyone around me thinks about relationships and their emotions all day long, my brain is busy working on filling in the holes in social mapping. I was born deficit in that respect, and pretty much grew up seeing people as either acceptable or stupid, never felt close to my parents, and missed all the little things that drive people to "know thyself". We know ourselves in relation to the networks we interact with. I barely interacted.

I am coming to know myself. I discovered in 2008 that two words seem to fit me pretty well, so I simply say I'm pangender asexual. I'm not sure there's any other category I fit into. Because I am so free of gender in my own mind, I am free to think very deeply about the human condition and how people survive their local existences in time and space. I'm able to question authority and society without emotional motivation, and I'm able to research and learn other points of view without challenging the walls of my own box.

Psychological health is dependent in part on one's sexual health, and in my opinion, people are far too worried about their sex lives. I've been privately contacted so many times about sex issues, what do I think of them. If you aren't raping (and possibly killing) another being, you're probably fine. This includes sadomasochism, unless you are dragging around in ragged shreds because you like it so rough (or someone got carried away). My personal opinion on any kind of self harm and self flagellation (including anorexia) is that the psychological roots of something need to be addressed, so if you're questioning your sex life, there's probably something deeper you're really needing to address and it's not really about 'sex' at all. It's about being validated as a person, having dignity as a human being, escaping bad places and people that hurt you, finding your own path to wellness, health, and happiness. Part of healing is openly talking about our stuff.

We can learn all these things from Lexx.

This is my pre-appointment warm up. I usually do this kind of blogging on Pinky blog, but since I promised psyche guy we're really going there this time, I needed to get some words organized. I don't speak nearly so well with my mouth as I do with my fingers. There will be a lot more in session, of course, loads of personal stuff, but it'll still circle around to a chess board, and there's one of those in Lexx, too. How do I see sex? Power. Head games. You're either owning the game or lost in one.

Funko Lexx would be pretty awesome

Yes, I know I suck, guys. I still don't have that Mantrid post out and not one single soul has complained, not once. But yes, I hear you loud and clear. And you know what? The people who could actually be making more Lexx or bringing us merch should be hearing you loud and clear, too, so I'm making my stats public. Dear Lexx owners, Plz to make us some Funko and Lego and kewl stuffs for holidays and moar cool stuff on general principle, because we've been really really good fans all this time, very dedicated and sincere and we really do want more Lexx. In fact, we're so rabid for Lexx that we pay good $$ to create our own one-off collector stuff to hoard, and we really really hope someone is out there listening to us and watching us love Lexx. Hopefully yours, the LEXX Fandom.

I'm just one little bitty fan in a worldwide fandom. There are other fans out there doing way more than me just writing a blog about a TV show. I've been seeing some incredible things created by dedicated fans, and I'm hoping to get some of it together into a separate blog dedicated to the Lexx fanbase. This original header was from a blog I put together around 2006, I think, and it's been gone awhile. Well, I've been very surprised at how much has been going on in the Lexx fandom while I've been out of the loop. I think it's high time the powers that be were aware just how much is out there...

Coming soon. Just like that *cough* Mantrid post *cough*.

Srsly.

His Divine Shadow- Prelude to a Kiss

Before I actually get to Mantrid, we need to do a quick review of who exactly is/was/will have been in charge here. In cosmic terms, power changes hands/jointed appendages/drone arms in the blink of an eye, but in our POV, thousands of years drag by with all this horrible stuff happening in between.

I've sort of intro'd His Shadow in I Worship His Shadow- part 4- His Divine Shadow, but we find out in season 2's "Mantrid" how His Shadow came to be a big deal. It's important to know this info so we can piece together what is happening several thousand years later when we meet Mantrid.

Quick note- I have new tech, so my screen caps will be bigger (mobile probably won't see a difference), so looking at costuming, sets, and CGI might be a smidge more detailed. I'll repeat here before we go on that this fan blog is a film study for a sometimes difficult to obtain and rarely streamed 20 year old sci-fi genre TV series, and that being as such, screen caps fall under this disclaimer- "Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use." Pictures will click over to nearly full capture size on a non profit personally paid for host service at Lexx Pix for film study appreciation and fan sharing (hotlinking, downloading, copy/paste all welcome, please use wisely). Other wonderful fans have provided excellent screen captures in the past, but perhaps newer tech will allow us an even closer look at the craftsmanship that went into this show from everyone involved with it. All my captures are from the original Salter Street print. Thanks to Echo Bridge Entertainment (also on twitter and facebook), you can still purchase Lexx.

The film narration (by Walter Borden, who also shows up in s2 Woz and throughout s4) relates the backstory perfectly, so I'm going to use that. We hear the story being told in the voice of His Shadow-

"Many thousands of years ago, we were defeated by humans in the great Insect Wars. Our human enemies thought they destroyed all Insects, but I escaped to live on. I hid myself by burrowing deep into a small planetoid, and there I wait."

You can see running along the underside are rows of brood pouches. This Insect looks a bit like a roly poly, so I'm going to refer to this particular race of Insects as roly polies, even though roly polies on earth are not true insects. Please don't conclude that this is a copy of a roly poly- remember that this Insect developed in a different universe and we barely get a glimpse at its entomology. There might be similarities, and there might be differences. The most important imagery we get from this picture is the segmented circle, which later becomes symbolic of the Divine Order.

Since we know very little about the Insect races excepting through various exoskeleton designs and bioengineered space worthy vehicles, I'm going to assume that the Insect Wars didn't necessarily mean the Insects themselves were united as one against humans, although presumably humans and Insects (of this size, imagine that!) were definitely pitted against each other, regardless. We have no further backstory regarding racial developments and how they first came to bump into each other, although obviously, at least some of the Insects could drift through space and spread from one planetary system to another over a long period of time. But staying on subject, we get a very nice view of this monstrous roly poly that is big enough to sustain active life in outer space in between planet environments, and then strong enough to burrow down into any rocky object moving along in orbit in a planetary system.

After an unknown amount of time, a small mining exploration team of humans makes a stop on this particular planetoid for samples. This is Rockhound. He's complaining of boredom and wishing something interesting would happen for once. Rockhound is played by John Davie, and the other crew are played by Chris Duffy (Captain), and Burgandy Code (navigator).

"I think I might've found myself something interesting here, not typically geological. Could be a sign of life. I'm curious to find out more."

Actually, we may have seen something like that before. Remember the very first movie when His Shadow picked up a shattered piece of Kai's biomechanoid attack bug and thought it interesting that it was Insect tech? This pic clicks back to that first post.

Rockhound had run into something from an Insect, perhaps a sloughed piece of shed exoskeleton, perhaps a bit of draining goo that had hardened into an amberlike piece of stone. The crew encouraged Rockhound to return to the ship so they could use a piece of equipment instead that they had nicknamed the 'finger probe' (lol, so typical in Lexx), reminding him that, "We sometimes follow the rules, remember?" Rockhound replied, "Sorry, it's been too long since my brain was put to use."

Let us stop here for a sec and let that line sink in. Let me know when you get it. You know, because brain put to use. Ok, I'll assume you're all over appreciating that one and now let's get back to the story.

"I'm getting a very weird feeling..." Let's play by play this bit, it goes a little fast. First we get a shot of what he's been standing in. We see glowy blue stuff like this in our own oceans, an indicator of life, caused by "a special channel in the dinoflagellate cell membrane that responds to electrical signals".

As Rockhound does sensory sweeps with what little equipment he's brought with him, he starts feeling electrical shocks, and quickly decides "There's too much electrical action, I'm outa here!"

But poor Rockhound can't move fast enough, becoming terrified as electrical currents engulf him, rendering him unconscious.

And then we see that familiar wispy smoky essence search for a way into his suit and right up his nostrils, just as we saw in the first movie when His Shadow performed the Kiss moving to a new host body.

His Shadow- "I passed my essence, my soul, my intelligence, my everything into a human host."

And there we go, His Shadow's first host. Lucky Rockhound! Just think, his bored brain will become the oldest Divine Predecessor, so it will be put to use for a very, very, very long time.

A few seconds later, Rockhound gets right back up saying he fell asleep, and he's coming back now.

After this part of the story we don't get any more backstory filling in the gap up to the time we meet His Shadow in the first movie. We know this planetoid houses the Insect, and we know the other Insects are wiped out, so presumably this is the very beginning of the Cluster, the judicial seat for Order. Imagine the patience and single minded focus it would take to not only survive as the last of your kind for thousands of years, but to build up enough force and resources to subjugate the human race across a League of 20,000 Planets.

"As the last surviving Insect, I knew I would never be able to defeat the humans, but if I possessed a human body, I thought perhaps I could use humans to defeat themselves. I became His Divine Shadow, the most powerful ruler in the Two Universes." His Shadow in robes was played by Lex Gigeroff.

"My power over humanity grew as I passed my essence down through generation after generation of human hosts." The senior cleric in this scene is played by David Renton, Walter Borden played the dying Shadow, and Lex Gigeroff also played the bound man here.

"My Insect body also grew in strength, fed by human flesh gathered from 20,000 unsuspecting planets, all unknowingly enslaved to their enemy."

"But my Order was destroyed by Kai, the last of the Brunnen-G."

"My prematurely born body was killed by the Lexx, the most powerful weapon of destruction ever built." Imagine the irony- it took a biomechanically engineered and organically grown space bug fed for years on human flesh to defeat the last of the Insects. Chew on that ironic backfire for awhile. All those people slaughtered and fed to the Lexx wound up getting their revenge after all.

First let's look at that Insect again now that it's been forced out of the planetoid while the Lexx blew the Cluster up. (I love the word Cluster, it's so Insecty, like a place full of egg clusters.)

And now let's watch the Lexx slide by in zoom. Niiiiice. It's like the Lamborgini of the space bug world. It's really modeled after a dragonfly. Imagine a dragonfly the size of Manhattan. Yeah, that. Tom Gallant did the Lexx's voice through this series, at least in English. I tried the French version for kicks and about died laughing. Americans tend to think of French as a sexy language, and the Lexx is supposed to sound simple, so that seemed pretty incongruent to me.

And here is the Lexx blowing it all up. You can see that massive roly poly clearing out before the blast gets there. If you haven't seen Lexx's energy ribbon blast in action, there's a great paragraph about the ocular parabolae amplifying black pack tech and the Giga Shadow (that gigantic roly poly) being impervious to the initial blast.

I've not yet worked on how this energy organizes and collects into a ribbon and rips through space slicing through everything in its path, whether it eventually dissipates, and other basics that Star Trek fans would have torn into like rabid slavering cosmology wolves. (I used to haunt the old ST forums years ago, if you've seen YabloVH fussing with anyone over physics, that was me.) Anyway, in this next shot, the energy is collecting around the front of the Lexx's face, temporarily out of sight before that final push off, giving the Giga Shadow a few extra seconds to wriggle out a little more before the blast shreds the Cluster.

Awww, those poor brood pouches, looks a bit hot there. Wonder how many there really are. By the way, I'm not racist against the Insect races, and I don't believe in genocide of a species. I know of a couple fans on two different continents who've privately worked out some cool backstories for the Insect Wars, would love to see those come out for the Lexxversary. If you've already done it, tag me somewhere so I can run over and read what you've got so far. Some of us are interested in #alltheLexx, not just the bits and pieces.

Let's all cheer with Captain Stan, yay! This is the guy who told the Lexx to blow up the Cluster. He used to work on the Cluster as a prisoner. Gotta love irony. Stanley Tweedle is played by Brian Downey.

"Kai crushed the brain of my last human host, but he did not kill me, as I still live on. But he does not know that I live- through him.Again, imagine the irony of your survival depending on the dead guy who you killed and then killed you back. It's complicated.

His Shadow didn't mention Kai getting all those memories during that crushing thing, but I'm sure he knows that. You might not if you're new to Lexx. It's sorta like gaming up, although Kai is the only one I've seen crush a brain and get added memories. Might have to look into that sometime, because Zev and Stan have smashed a couple of brains, and Giggerota ate part of one, and we didn't see that happen with them. By the way, Kai was played by Michael McManus. But back to His Shadow's story!

Wait, gratuitous closeup of Zev. Zev was played by Eva Habermann.

Ok, what was that living on through Kai stuff??? O_O Wo. Let's think about this. Between Kai being dead, gutted out and rebuilt (which we find out in season three) and animated with protoblood, he's an ideal storage unit for His Shadow's essence. I will go into a lot more depth about essence and protoblood in the next section about Mantrid and the portent of His Shadow being the originator of all Insect essence left in the Two Universes. In the meantime, he just reminded us that we got a hint at Dark Kai at the tail end of the fourth movie Giga Shadow in season one. Key words here are Kai doesn't know. And it's not like he's unconscious of it, he has no unconsciousness. For all intents and purposes, Kai is His Shadow in hiding. We're not supposed to know that yet, but I'm really not going to call spoiler alert on a show that's two decades old. Anyway, here is the hint we're seeing again. Watch his eyes.

But that Shadow is a sly old fox, he backs off again so no one will notice.

Quick thought before I break this part off here. When we talk about passing essence along, and His Shadow is here and there, we kind of have to look at it like copies of himself. The Giga Shadow is his original body, right? He spoke of it as if it were flourishing. He also has previous copies of himself stored in the Divine Predecessors. I make a joke in Part 5 of the I Worship His Shadow breakdown about all the copies of his one essence arguing amongst themselves. It would be like copies of your own self perpetuated to infinity until someone or something stops it, so what really is inside of Kai is a copy of the actual mind of the Giga Shadow, plus all the memories of all the hosts that have housed that essence before Kai absorbed the latest copy. I'm not sure a living human could have survived that (Yottskry was able to fight against the Giga Shadow essence consuming his mind), but Kai, being that dead, gutted out, reanimated storage unit can apparently handle the overload just fine. He was rebuilt for programming as a Divine Assassin, and he's already stocked up on protoblood, which would seem a much better host than a regular human, actually.

Remember this when we get to Mantrid.

the "be like" meme on Facebook, Lexx style

All these were posted by RJess Mayya in the Lexx Down Under Lexx fan group on facebook. It's an awesome take on this dorky little meme game going around.

This pic clicks to my facebook post where it came from.

Ready? Made by a Russian fan living in Australia, if I'm understanding that right, and pretty awesome these were made in English for more of us to see. These each click back to original source so you can see them full size.
